wedding {stuff} recap

As I mentioned last week- this blog will soon retire. I will spend time over the next few weeks getting pictures and details of everything I haven't had time to write about and or wanted to share before the big day(s).

Also- if you receive these updates via email, I will remove you from the list so that you aren't seeing the constant update by force and or filling up your inbox. SO I will remove your emails after today {unless I hear otherwise} but do be sure to check back often- I write to share, so I love it when you read on.

Look forward to updates on the following:

  • Reception Invites
  • Bride splurges, tips & tricks: {hair/makeup}
  • Reception Decorations & The Decorator
  • The Dress
  • Gift Opening
  • Thank Yous
  • Photography {CT Ryan Studios}
  • Reception Day 5.15.10
  • Fun & Surprising Elements
  • Wedding Party Photos/Introductions

and then of course... anything else I can think up while recapping!

Wedding Video

Remember me talking about what would be doing for our slide show? Well, here is the Animoto video that I put together for the reception.

With the goal of trying to closly "recreate" our wedding day in Cabo, I thought it would be fun to put together a video using photos from that day {2.20.10} and also telling a little bit of a story as the pictures moved along. I help but to narate my photos as friends look on- I am also one to put a caption with all my pictures on facebook and in albums. Pictures always say a million words, I love them.

Enjoy the 10 minute video. *side note: the high resolution may not have downloaded as an Mp4 so it might seem a little fuzzy on here, but you get the idea. AND the video song is "Guantanamera" is by Los Lobos- a Mexico favorite of both Aaron and I!

What to Wear?

For the big party, that is only 3 days away, our invites state that the attire is "Spring Casual" with an additional note of {weather permitting}. To us, this just means, "be casual & have fun with it!"

This is going to be a fun party- and so we invite you to show up defining the word fun! :)

I was looking around online today and found some great inspiration!

For the Women:

For the Men:
The weather is telling us that this RAINY AND {too} COLD {for me} week will reward us with sun and 70 on Saturday- let's hang on to this and hope it turns out to be just like that!! See everyone very soon!

The Guest Book {for cabo}

I wanted to post my idea that we went with for our Cabo Guest book. I went with a really CUTE idea that was sent to me through email, or maybe I read it in a magazine... POSTCARDS! This was perfect seeing that this was really our theme for our destination wedding, we did our Save The Dates, Invites and all RSVPs as postcards.

Anyway, when Aaron and I were in Cabo {days before the wedding} we went into town to by X number of Cabo San Lucas postcards. We ended up with 35 postcards for some random $ amount. I think it was $15.

At the wedding I had previously asked friend Melissa to be in charge of making sure every guest got a postcard, filled it out and then returned it to her before they left Cabo. She was great in making sure that everyone filled them out during our cocktail hour {after the ceremony and before dinner}. Except... we never ended up getting a postcard filled out from each of our sisters {Jamie?? or Krista??} maybe they still have them! ;) hmmmm.....

THEN Melissa packed them up with her to bring home. I provided Melissa with an address stamp for Aaron & I and postage so that she address and mark them with {correct} postage {thank you melissa} and she THEN sent them out in bunches a couple weeks after we had returned home and were settled at our new house.

It was SOOOO SO fun getting postcards from our friends and family writing from Cabo while at our wedding- we loved it! We had some really great messages for us. Tonight, I was finally able to get these organized and into a 5x7 scrapbook {thanks to MOG}.

Here's a picture of the final product:

If you're stuck on a guestbook idea, I highly recommend this option, pretty cheap and a very fun way to remember your wedding days, weeks and the months to follow! I don't think you really need to have a destination wedding to do so either... it could be for the city/state that you are getting in married in.

Melissa- Thank you again for helping to make this idea come to life!

Slide shows

They have been all the rage at almost every single wedding we have been to.... since we seem to be all about doing things just a tad different you would think- "no slide show for Andrea & Aaron."

Well that's not the case... I think you all know how much I LOVE pictures so I HAD to have a slide show of some kind!! Aaron didn't mind either... I did all the work on this one.

So the good news is, yes there will be something. The bad news is, you will have to wait to see it. {I will post it on the blog after the 15th}

This "something" will be on display at the reception via television that will run on a continuous cycle for the duration of our party {at least that is my vision...} we seem to be on track for everything to work out.

The last two nights I have spent a lot of time "creating"- and with the help of MOH Lana & her hubby Ben- the project was completed with success by 10pm last night. {yessssssss}

What a relief to have this done. It's been weighing heavy my mind- I have also realized this.... {start random thought} DIY projects for a wedding are a lot, A LOT, like homework! When I was in school big projects that have a lot of meaning and or significant impact were a BIG deal, soooo one might get on it right away and get it out of the way, right?? NOT ME! I would wait until the very last minute to work on it- almost every time. One time I did an assignment {a big one} early... and I was proud of myself but also thought, MEH. Soooo... I work best under pressure, I procrastinate at all costs and don't know why- but I did the same thing with this project. Some things never change, but it usually works out. {end random thought}

Anyway.... I REALLY wanted to include older pictures, pictures of Aaron & I as kids, with our family and with our friends... but then there would be no limits to how long it could end up being. On top of that, I know I would have spent waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on it {more than I already have}.

With all the randomness of thought said...
We look forward to sharing our very fun creation with all of you at the reception in... how may days?? 9 days!!

"April Showers"

I wanted to share fun pictures from sister's shower that she had for me {shower #3} on 4/18/10.

It was a fun time spent with family and close friends. Mom hosted the shower at her house in the new kitchen and cooked all of the food! SO good, as always!

Jamie did a great job at keeping everyone on task and getting the shower rolling.

I had fun visiting with friends, seeing family... talking about the wedding, opening gifts... eating food, and playing with Gaby Baby! My nephew is getting to be so big!!
Thank You Sister & Mom for hosting such a great shower!
