colors?

I LOVE this color...

When the Maid's dress shopping begins... I will have this color in mind- yes it's a very expensive (I am sure) Karen Millen satin dress so the style and brand is out of the question, but this color is EXACTLY what I envision and hope to find! We'll see!

secret wedding admirer?

I love running to the mailbox this time of year (Christmas cards are fun to get in the mail!)

No cards tonight though. To my surprise I pulled a few pieces of junk mail, a bill annnnd a Modern Bride Magazine... with my name on it!?

So I am wondering if someone got this sent to me?? and If so, Thank You!!

Until I figure out who sent/is sending these my way... I will be browsing the pages for dress ideas.

I think I am getting closer and closer in wanting to actually go and look... err try dresses on (maybe). AHHH I get too excited even thinking about it!

Anyway, THANKS whoever you are!

Engagement Pictures!?

Today has me thinking about the whole idea of "engagement pictures"

I am having a hard time getting Aaron to take in this very idea of getting these done professionally. We have a few friends that are good at photography as a hobby and really take some nice shots. i.e. "why would we pay anyone?" AND Aaron is not the best at actually wanting to get his picture taken.

Anyway... as you all know I am HUGE into pretty pictures... so I would love to have a professional take their time in taking our pictures using their creativity and ideas and we would pay them :)

Now why I am thinking about this today? Well, since will are planning to marry (away) during the beautiful season of Winter I really want pictures in the pretty snow. And today has been a snowy in your face kind of day. I know we have plenty of time with the snow living in MN- but I want pretty fluffy white snow and LOTS of it. AND I think it would be silly to wait until NEXT winter to do these type of pics.

so I have a few questions for you:

Should we ask a friend or look for a professional with reasonable rates?
Any ideas of a GREAT location for winter shots?
Do we go on a snowy day OR a sunny day?

I know it's our wedding... but I also need input there is SO much to think about!

That is all I have for now for thoughts about my ideas... any and all advise pertaining will be much appreciated :)

CaboWabo

Aaron and I safely made it to Cabo on 12/11/08 (bright eyed and bushy tailed) by 2pm and safely made it back home on 12/15/08 (sun kissed and spent!) by 11:45pm.

It was a good trip (for ALL the details of our fun trip- check out all the posts on our main blog).

We are happy to report that the RIU provided more than we were expecting. It is very large in scale- we won't have a problem in inviting every single last person that wishes to be with us on our wedding day!

We met with the wedding planner and had a brief conversation. It wasn't as personalized and enthusiastic as I was hoping for. These destination weddings aren't anything all too new and exciting for them- it seemed pretty routine.

She was helpful in answering every question that we had. Showing us some wedding photos of the past events and taking us on a tour pointing out several locations within the resort of where the wedding can be held.

The biggest thing now is to very patiently wait for 2010 rates to be released.

We were not able to get any leads on booking a date in 2010 or how much it will cost... so we are still waiting to do this... which means we still do not have a date set.

This part kind of stinks but I am hoping to get somewhere on it sooner than later, 6 months have already gone by so fast.

Again the trip was awesome... the entire time we just kept on picturing all of our close friends and family enjoying Cabo on our next trip down! ... save those 2010 winter vacas for Jan/Feb '10...

get your tan on

Well we are about 11 days away from setting jet to Cabo San Lucas!! YAH!!!

Today Aaron got a start on his "fake baking" by taking a trip to the electrical beach of Forest Lake :) Not that he needs it, he gets really tan no matter what!!! But with hot temps and super sunny skies in Cabo he will need a head start in getting a nice base tan. He gets very tropical (brown) with any amount of time spent in the sun. (grrrrrrr)

I of course need my vitamin D year round... so tanning is nothing new to me- I will frequent the beds just as often as usual until Cabo and then some.

Soon we'll be sunning ourselves oceanside, CANT WAIT!!

The Budget!

With having the trip to Cabo booked... it's really got me thinking...

We need to sit down and REALLY start thinking about one of the "they say" most important things to do as a newly engaged couple. Setting a Budget- THE Budget.

Well this is hard for me, I have always worked very hard for my money and anything that I have wished to spend it on. But for something like this- this HUGE (well not too huge, but you know what I mean) I will actually have to think about what, where and when to spend- SCARY!

Aaron's Mom picked up this Premier Bride book while we were shopping a couple weekends ago and within it I have found a very handy little guide for budgeting.

Anyway, Bridget was over tonight and she helped us mediate. We did a VERY large scale rough budget just to get the idea and to help put things into perspective. It did help a little- we will try to get a better grip on it shortly after our vaca when we have some fresh numbers in our head.

That's it for now...

The Riu in Cabo 2008

Aaron and I are headed to the Riu Palace in Cabo San Lucas in Dec 2008 for 5 days.

Here we plan to check out our hotel resort where we will have our wedding day in the company of our families and as many friends that we can have with us on our day!

It is our hope to gain some first hand knowledge of the Hotel's service, accommodations, their pools, their beach, their food, etc...

I have been communicating with the wedding planner on site and she is excited to meet with us (maybe not as much as I am to meet with her)- but I plan to have LOTS of questions answered after meeting with her...

It's already been ALMOST 5 months since our July engagement and we are fastly approaching a year countdown for the wedding date as we plan to work out a February 2010 wedding BUT we still don't have a set date but keep 02/2010 in mind and your budgets. This trip should find us AND leave us VERY VERY excited!

Can't wait to share some details upon our return...
